“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now...” (Philippians 1:3-5) Sports Friends desires to see many churches partnering together to spread the gospel through effective sports ministry programs. A Church Partnership Program to accomplish this vision is first being modeled between churches in North America and Ethiopia. These partnerships include strategic praying, strategic giving and strategic going on the part of the North American church.
Strategic Praying -- The Ethiopian church has much to teach the North American church regarding biblical prayer. They are convinced that prayer changes things, and they are eager to pray for believers and churches here as we pray for them. This prayer fellowship will be mutually enriching.
Strategic Giving -- Giving to partner churches in Ethiopia will be focused around a relationship with a regional sports ministry leader trained and supported by Sports Friends. In turn the North American church will receive from their Ethiopian partners gifts of immense value: a godly example in the areas of prayer, vibrant worship, relationships, giving out of poverty, joy in their daily blessings and much more.
Strategic Going – Short-term teams from partner churches will be sent to enhance the long-term overseas ministry of Sports Friends and our partner denominations. These life changing trips will connect those who give with those doing church planting work, camping ministry and related sports ministry initiatives. It is our desire that those who participate in short-term trips not only contribute significantly to the long-term work in Ethiopia, but also become a catalyst in their sending church for renewed passion and commitment to the work of our Lord. Our brothers and sisters in Ethiopia are eager for additional North American church partners to join them in this work of the Holy Spirit – through a strategic investment of prayer, financial resources and personal involvement/going. We believe this strategic partnership will not only be a blessing to the Ethiopian church, but will also be a tool that God uses to bring renewal, blessing and joy to the North American church.
The Church Partnership Program requires a financial commitment of approximately $5,000 per year for each supported Ethiopian regional leader for a minimum three-year period of time.
